‘Ruthless’: Mark Warburton praises Leeds United’s clinical edge

Leeds United are back top of the Championship after a 2-0 win over QPR. Goals from Tyler Roberts and Jack Harrison secured the win that took Marcelo Bielsa’s side back to the summit.

It was a far better performance from Leeds and they thoroughly deserved all three points.

One issue Leeds have had all season has been turning domination into goals and wins. Patrick Bamford, in particular, has struggled to take opportunities that come his way.

So one word you would not describe Leeds as this season so far is ruthless. However, that is exactly how QPR boss Mark Warburton described them after the game.

As he told QPR’s official website, he felt Leeds simply were more clinical in the final third.

“It’s a tough place to come and Leeds are a very talented team…

“But in the final third they were a little bit more ruthless and we just lacked that bit of quality to get something…

“…We’re disappointed. We were very much the underdogs against a strong Leeds side but we needed to impose ourselves more.”

TBR’s View

Leeds have been accused of not being ruthless enough this season but they certainly punished QPR adequately yesterday.

Roberts and Harrison toom their goals well and Leeds were undoubtedly good value for their win.

However, their performances this season have still not been rewarded with a thrashing. Hopefully, that is just around the corner.
