Arsenal’s Runar Alex Runarsson has claimed that Liverpool number one Alisson has been the best goalkeeper in the Premier League in the past couple of years.
Runarsson, 25, joined the Gunners in the summer transfer window and the shot-stopper is the back-up option to Bernd Leno in the Arsenal goal.
Meanwhile, Brazilian Alisson is entering his third season at Liverpool and he’s been a raging success since his arrival at Anfield.
The 28-year-old helped win the Champions League during his first year at the Merseyside club, plus last season he was part of the Reds side that won the Premier League title.
Runarsson has suggested that the Liverpool superstar is the best in his position across the entire Premier League.
“Probably the best goalie in the Premier League the last two years,” Runarsson said.
Alisson certainly deserves the crown as the Premier League’s elite goalkeeper based on his first couple of years in English football and record of 37 clean sheets in 73 top-flight games is majorly impressive.
The South American fits the bill of a modern goalkeeper in the sense that he’s comfortable in possession and he’s got a great range of passing, but it’s his ability to come alive in key moments with incredible saves.
It’s usually the case that he has very little to do behind a formidable defence, but injuries within the Liverpool camp could see his importance highlighted even more this season.
