Leeds United are interested in signing Ruben Alcaraz, according to Spanish media outlet Pucela Fichajes. Alcaraz plays for Real Valladolid in La Liga and has a release clause of more than £10m.
Marcelo Bielsa currently uses three central midfielders: Kalvin Phillips, Mateusz Klich and Adam Forshaw.
But given Phillips’ discipline record, Klich’s dip in form and Lewis Baker being recalled by Chelsea, there is a vacancy for one more player.
Alcaraz would be an ideal candidate for Leeds, providing they can put together a financial package to make this deal happen.
The 27-year-old came through the ranks at Barcelona and has carved out a career in the lower leagues in Spain before moving to La Liga this season.
Alcaraz joined newly promoted Real Valladolid and he has played a key role in moving them away from the relegation zone – his side currently sit 15th.

According to Who Scored, the tough-tackling defensive midfielder has made the fourth most tackles in the Spanish top tier with 3.1 per match.
With two goals and one assist to his name as well, the Spanish midfielder can help Leeds moving forward.
Alongside another tenacious midfielder in Phillips, Alcaraz could form an impenetrable central midfield partnership in the Championship.
Leeds players are going to need rotation for the promotion run-in so Alcaraz could add some fresh legs to help deliver promotion.
