Roy Keane issues warning to Ange Postecoglou, ‘shake hands with the devil’

Speaking on the Stick to Football podcast, former Premier League midfielder and ex-Nottingham Forest player Roy Keane offered his verdict on Postecoglou’s appointment.

Discussing Marinakis’ high turnover of managers, Keane said he ‘didn’t blink an eyelid’ at Nuno Espirito Santo’s sacking, telling Postecoglou not to be surprised if he is treated similarly in future.

Raising his voice, Keane said: “When I see these managers going to Forest going, ‘Oh, it’s a great club.’ Listen, be careful what you wish for. This owner’s got previous, so what do you think’s going to change?

“What you want obviously for a manager when you’re going through a difficult spell is it for the owner to go, ‘yeah, I’ve got your back.’

“I don’t feel sorry for managers anymore either. Don’t cry yourself to sleep. He knew that when he went in there, you have got to do your homework. If you shake hands with the devil, all the best. Good luck.”

“[Nuno] has obviously not lost a job in the back of football results. I still think the owner would be still fed up with him last year thinking they should have gotten the Champions League.

“If you look at the owner he’s brought success to Forest he’s throwing money and that’s fine and I’m saying Forest should hopefully still kick on.

“But that doesn’t mean you have to treat managers like that. You can still do things properly or when you do sack him, sack him with a bit of class.”
