Roy Keane has lauded Jarrod Bowen for the goal which made the points safe for West Ham United in their 3-0 win over Wolves at the London Stadium on Sunday.

Jarrod Bowen managed to find the bottom corner as the Hammers countered after coming plenty of pressure from Gary O’Neil’s side during the second-half.

The forward is now into double figures for league goals this season. He is certainly proving to be an outstanding performer up front for David Moyes’ side.

And Roy Keane, who was speaking on Sky Sports (broadcast on 17/12; 16:01), was full of praise for the 26-year-old for the strike which all but confirmed the win for West Ham.

“Very much [deserved win]. Obviously, a couple of outstanding performances. And again, very good second goal. Quick one-two. Wolves all over the place at this stage, trying to get back into the game,” he said.

“Bowen, excellent signing for West Ham. Lovely, lovely finish with his right foot. Lovely finish.”

Forward thriving in striker role

The goal came at a crucial time for West Ham. The likes of Lucas Paqueta and Mohammed Kudus were exceptional. But Wolves started to ask a few more questions of the Europa Conference League champions in the second-half.

They narrowly had a goal ruled out for offside. And West Ham had to defend well against a team who have secured some impressive results in recent weeks. Not too many sides have kept both Hwang Hee-Chan and Matheus Cunha quiet this season.

But Bowen’s goal ended virtually any hope Wolves had of mounting a comeback with just over 15 minutes remaining.

Michail Antonio recently suggested that Bowen does not really like playing up front. But on current evidence, West Ham have found themselves a world-class striker.

And while there continue to be question marks amongst the fans over Moyes and his future, there is no question that Bowen is playing as well as he ever has right now.
