Roy Keane has told Super Sunday on Sky Sports (broadcast on 2/10; 18:41) that Luis Sinisterra‘s red card in Leeds United’s draw with Aston Villa at Elland Road was the height of stupidity.

Sinisterra largely dashed Leeds’ hopes of winning the game. He was booked in the first-half for clipping John McGinn not far outside the Villa penalty box.

And he did not last long after the interval. Stuart Attwell gave a soft free-kick. And just as Villa attempted to take the set-piece, the Colombian stuck a leg out to block the ball.

Attwell infuriated the Elland Road faithful by showing a second yellow to the summer signing. But Keane was in no doubt as to who deserves all of the criticism following the sending off.

“Absolutely,” he told Super Sunday, when asked if he would be tearing his hair out as a manager at Sinisterra being sent off.

“It’s the height of stupidity, giving some daft fouls away here. It’s just clumsy. There’s no danger. There’s a time to foul somebody if they’re breaking. But there’s no danger there. He’s setting himself up for a fall.

“Here, he’s on a yellow card. Back away. It’s the height of stupidity.”

Not only did Sinisterra leave Leeds a man down, but Jesse Marsch’s side also lost the player who looked most dangerous during the frustrating first-half.

The winger went on some really exciting runs before the break. And some of his touches reminded everyone why some supporters see Sinisterra as something of a successor to Raphinha.

Sinisterra will need few reminders that he probably cost Leeds a genuine chance of winning the game. But given his ability, it would be no surprise if he more than atones for Sunday’s error in the coming weeks.
