Roy Keane noticed how Patrick Bamford reacted after scoring for Leeds United last night
Keane was part of the punditry team covering the game for ITV as Leeds made it through to the fourth round at the second time of asking.
Leeds will face either Accrington Stanley or Boreham Wood in round four, but their replay was postponed and will be played on Tuesday.
Keane could see the impact of Bamford’s goals on his confidence, and it is now three from two for the England international since his comeback from injury.
Keane on Bamford
Keane said: “Of course (you begin to doubt your own body) when you have injury problems. When he came on, his finishes were excellent considering he was out for a while.
“He has got that quality. He has got that laid-back attitude. But this is a beautiful finish (first goal). Nice and clinical, nice and calm. Relaxed. And the second one was excellent.
“That is a big lift to him. You could see the smile (on his face). The reaction from his teammates. A big couple of goals for him, without a doubt.”
Bamford is such a huge player for Leeds and the way he has hit the ground running after coming back from injury is a very promising sign for the Whites.
At the halfway point of the season, they find themselves far closer to the relegation battle than they would have hoped to be when they secured survival by the skin of their teeth last term.
Bamford is as important as anyone to getting away from that dogfight, and it is great to see him getting back to his best, with even more likely to come as he regains full match sharpness.
