Roy Keane has given his verdict on one of Arsenal’s key summer signings following what has been an excellent summer of business for Mikel Arteta.

Andrea Berta has quickly made himself very popular at the Emirates Stadium after making eight new additions to the Gunners’ squad.

Viktor Gyokeres, Noni Madueke, Martin Zubimendi, Eberechi Eze, Christian Norgaard, Cristhian Mosquera, Kepa Arrizabalaga and Piero Hincapie were the eight new arrivals.

One of the Gunners’ summer signings has already caught the eye of Roy Keane, who is backing him to be a success in North London.

Roy Keane and Jamie Carragher back Viktor Gyokeres to succeed

Jamie Carragher and Keane are both backing Gyokeres to succeed at Arsenal following his strong start to life in the Premier League.

The striker netted two goals against Leeds United, but has also looked strong in the Gunners’ tough away games at Old Trafford and Anfield.

Keane has already backed Gyokeres to score plenty of goals for Arsenal this season, and now he can confidently say the Swede will be a success in North London.

Speaking ahead of Arsenal’s trip to Anfield, Keane told Sky Sports: “It’s been a hit so far. Two goals in two games. Hit so far.” Meanwhile, Carragher added: “Hit so far. Yeah, hit!”

Gyokeres was quiet against Liverpool, but ultimately, he didn’t get a great deal of service; however, he continued to work hard to make things happen.

Arsenal and the 27-year-old will face an interesting test in their next match as they host Nottingham Forest at the Emirates Stadium after the international break.

Unsurprisingly, Gyokeres has been selected for the Swedish squad for World Cup qualifiers against Slovenia and Kosovo.

Alan Pardew issues worrying verdict on Viktor Gyokeres at Arsenal

Alan Pardew has issued a worrying verdict on Gyokeres, claiming he would be ‘worried’ if he were an Arsenal fan about his start to life in the Premier League.

The former Premier League manager is concerned about the striker’s lack of speed and has called for him to step up for Arsenal.

Pardew told TalkSPORT: “Can I tell you what I’d be concerned about if I were an Arsenal fan, Gyokeres so far.

“I’m looking at him, thinking I want a bit more from you. Sporting Lisbon is different because it’s a different kind of culture, it was a great team he was in, and he was always going to get goals there.

“But when he was at Coventry, he looked quick down the side of the pitch, and now in the Premier League, he didn’t look quick today (against Liverpool).

“There were times he had the march and didn’t get past the centre back, and I think it’s a concern whether this kid is going to have to step up and be this number nine Arsenal have been waiting three years for, so there is a lot of pressure on him.”
