Leeds United were left frustrated with VAR this weekend, despite being comfortably beaten by Crystal Palace 4-1 at Selhurst Park.
Patrick Bamford scored a delicious chip to level the scoring after Scott Dann had given the Eagles the lead but it was ruled out, with the English striker’s arm offside.
It was another baffling decision from the VAR officials and Patrick Bamford, as quoted by The Times, admitted after the game that even the referee ‘didn’t know’ why the goal was disallowed.
However, one man with no sympathy for Leeds was Palace manager Roy Hodgson.
“Nothing new,” Hodgson told Leeds Live. “Every week there are decisions to be contested. If you want sympathy on calls like these, then you’re coming to the wrong man because we have had so many.
“We have suffered so badly in the last 13 days through offside goals and VAR, “ he was quoted as telling Football.London. “VAR is something we’ll be talking about for a long, long time.
“Every goal scored must be very carefully.”

The Crystal Palace boss was most likely talking about the club’s recent clash with Wolves.
Palace saw a Michy Batshuayi goal and a penalty ruled out by VAR in that fixture. Luka Milivojevic was also shown a red card after VAR’s intervention.
So it makes sense for Hodgson to perhaps have little time for any complaining about VAR from other teams.
Although, in fairness to Leeds and Bamford, those decisions against Wolves were far less marginal or confusing than his goal being ruled out.
It might have changed the pattern of the game, however, in the end, Palace were fully deserving of their comfortable win and Hodgson can revel in that fact.
But when it comes to sympathising with Leeds, the former England manager is not interested.
