Aston Villa have reportedly submitted a bid for Marvelous Nakamba. According to Het Nieuwsblad, Nakamba is desperate to force an exit after Aston Villa bid £9m for the Club Brugge star.
Dean Smith is in the market for a new holding midfielder. After addressing a number of areas this summer (striker, left-back, wingers, central defenders, etc.), he has turned his attention to the defensive midfield department.
After Glenn Whelan and Mile Jedinak left, Aston Villa need fresh faces in that department. Other players, such as Douglas Luiz and Kalvin Phillips, have been linked with Villa this summer.
But Nakamba could be another option. Aston Villa are eager to sign the Zimbabwe international but Club Brugge reportedly want more than £10m. Having already signed Wesley Moraes from Club Brugge this summer, it will be interesting to see whether Nakamba follows his former team-mate to the West Midlands.
Nakamba is keen on the move to Aston Villa, according to this report. The 25-year-old has been refusing to train with his squad in pre-season in a bid to push through this move, which he wants to complete as soon as possible.
Here are some tweets from Aston Villa fans discussing the potential capture of Nakamba.

I admire his optimism if its true.
Also i like the depth an options to a CM if this is true…
Grealish, Jota, Hourihane, McGinn, Luiz, Nakamba.
Bit of everything in there. Good balance.

Do we want someone who conducts themselves in this way 🤷🏻♂️

Can’t see us signing Nakamba and Luiz. We’ve got Hourihane too. Bit concerned financially if #avfc are going to get to £130-150m.
