Ross Barkley reacts to Adam Forshaw Instagram after Leeds return
Ross Barkley joined a host of players and sent a message to Adam Forshaw after the Leeds United star took to Instagram to comment on his return to action on Tuesday.
Forshaw made his first first-team appearance in almost two years this week. The 30-year-old started in midfield as Marcelo Bielsa’s side beat Crewe 3-0 at Elland Road.
It proved to be a successful return from the Englishman. Not only did Leeds book their place in the third round for the first time since Bielsa’s arrival, but he also seemed to come through the game unscathed.
And Forshaw took to social media on Wednesday to express his delight at making his return and getting the opportunity to play in front of a packed Elland Road again.
Here is what Forshaw posted…
Unsurprisingly, plenty of teammates past and present replied and expressed their delight for Forshaw.
It has been an incredibly long road back for the former Middlesbrough man. And many were clearly aware just how much the game meant to him.
Barkley – who, of course, spent time on loan at Leeds – came through the Everton ranks with Forshaw. And he sent a classy response to the Leeds star…
Forshaw return could be huge for Leeds this season
Obviously, Bielsa will be wary of rushing Forshaw back. Both Leeds and the midfielder have waited long enough for this appearance, so they will not want to take too many risks.
But it would be fantastic for Leeds if he is able to get back to his best.
Forshaw was arguably playing the best football of his Leeds spell in the weeks before he sustained his injury.
And the Whites need more quality in the middle of the park. So Forshaw’s return may prove be perfectly timed.
