Ross Barkley and Everton star send one-word Instagram messages to Tom Davies

Tom Davies produced a stunning performance last night as Everton defeated Tottenham in the FA Cup and afterwards, received praise from Ross Barkley and Ben Godfrey on Instagram.

Davies played the full 120 minutes as Carlo Ancelotti’s team prevailed into the quarter-final after an epic 5-4 victory over Spurs.

Two goals from Richarlison, Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Gylfii Sigurdsson and Bernard saw the Toffees into the last eight.

Davies hasn’t really been considered first choice this season and he’s had to wait patiently for a chance.

Last night’s performance will have given Ancelotti some food for thought ahead of the Premier League campaign and his performance caught the eye of players, past and present.

Barkley came through the youth ranks at Everton and he summed up Davies’ performance with a one-word response on Instagram.

A current member of the Everton ranks also had praise for his teammate, with Ben Godfrey also choosing to sum up his performance with one word.

It’s testament to Davies that he was capable of performing as he did last night, despite very little first-team action.

He showed a willingness to put a shift in for his team against Tottenham and that won’t have gone unnoticed by Ancelotti.

Alongside Abdoulaye Doucoure he looked the part against Mourinho’s team and he’ll hope to keep his place this weekend.

Davies was very nearly loaned out to Southampton during the summer and on last night’s showing, Ancelotti will be glad that didn’t come to fruition.

At 22 the £25,000-a-week youngster is improving all the time and there is reason to believe he can become a regular in the Everton team once again.
