Rose's post-Arsenal comments were exactly in tune with the supporters
Danny Rose was typically outspoken after Tottenham’s 2-0 EFL Cup quarter-final victory over Arsenal in midweek.
That win saw Spurs carry out a modicum of revenge for the 4-2 defeat inflicted earlier this month by their bitterest rivals and Rose acknowledged that fact in his post-match comments.
He said: “We were fully relishing the opportunity. Our only motivation was remembering the nonsense that Arsenal posted after the game a few weeks ago.
“Players that have only played 10 games for Arsenal were getting ahead of themselves. We used that in a positive way. It’s karma. They fully deserve what they got.”
“We had the motivation of getting to the semi-final, so we’re over the moon. But the cherry on top was silencing them after remembering how they celebrated like they had won the league. We’ve put that result right. We’ll see where they are come the end of the season and we’ll see where we are.”
Spurs fans were keen to reassert their superiority after that defeat and the subsequent reaction so Rose’s comments will be music to their ears.
Arsenal’s form since their derby win has tailed off, while Spurs’ midweek victory continues a mightily impressive recovery and ultimately both sides will be judged on where they end up at the end of the season.
Rose articulately expressed what so many Spurs fans were thinking.
