Rooney going nowhere
This morning we all woke up to rumours surrounding Wayne Rooney’s future at Old Trafford. Reports from several papers suggested Ferguson was preparing to cash in on the injured England striker.
Many people will have questioned the reliability of the sources, having proposed a somewhat unlikely scenario. But Rooney’s failure to make Ferguson’s first team versus Fulham on Saturday will have fuelled any rumours.
Sir Alex has already stated Rooney remains in his plans this season. But earlier this evening, the 26 year old confirmed what we’d all previously thought – he wouldn’t be leaving the club.
On twitter he made the following statement:
I think it’s clear to see Rooney isn’t going anywhere, at least not for the foreseeable future.
This time, we can discard the speculation as nonsense. Expect to see him back in a United shirt as soon as he regains full fitness.
