Ever since Chris Wood left for Burnley in summer 2017, Leeds have been searching for a top goal scorer.
Last season, they failed to replace Wood and were left with several misfiring strikers.
But this summer, Marcelo Bielsa made it his priority to find a new forward to bolster Leeds’ fire power.
That quest led them to many targets, including Lewis Grabban. But the Whites missed out on the proven Championship goal scorer, who moved to Nottingham Forest instead.
But will Leeds live to regret missing out on this £6m deal? The 30-year-old does already have eight goals and two assists in his 13 games for Nottingham Forest.
Leeds eventually snapped up Patrick Bamford, who has been out injured for most of the season, but the emergence of Kemar Roofe has been a pleasant surprise.
Roofe also spent some time on the sidelines but when he has played, he has been very impressive.
The 25-year-old scored in the midweek win over Ipswich Town, taking his tally to five goals and two assists in eight Championship matches.
There is little to choose between these two players this season and this Saturday, they come up against each other.
Roofe must use this opportunity to prove to his manager and the Leeds fans that missing out on Grabban was not a mistake.
Instead, Roofe can become the striker they have been looking for to fill Wood’s boots.
