Roma’s Nicolo Zaniolo has offers from Tottenham and Juventus – prefers Juve

Roma midfielder Nicolo Zaniolo has two serious offers on the table during this transfer window, according to Italian outlet Corriere Dello Sport.

They report that Champions League finalists Tottenham have made one, while Italian champions Juventus have made the other.

And the report says that despite the fact that Spurs’ offer is larger financially, the player himself would rather move to Juve.

That’s a blow to a Tottenham side looking for further midfield improvements after the arrival of Tanguy Ndombele, especially as they have seemingly gone against their usual habit by offering a hugely competitive financial proposal.

Zaniolo is one of the hottest young midfielders in European football but it does not appear that he will be pulling on the white of Tottenham next season unless something changes.

It’s tough to dispute the allure of Juventus for a young Italian player – they are utterly dominant in the league and have set their sights firmly on winning the Champions League, having lost two recent finals.

What will encourage Tottenham supporters is that their club finally looks to be paying the going rate for top talent and putting forward offers that are financially competitive.

On this occasion, it just looks to be the pull of Juventus and their constant challenges for trophies that have tipped the balance at this stage.
