'Many times': Fabrizio Romano says Tottenham have a Djed Spence alternative scouted already
Tottenham might be keen on signing Djed Spence from Middlesbrough this summer, but that doesn’t mean he’s the only one they have eyes on at right-back.
As is well known, Fabio Paratici likes to have a number of targets lined up when it comes to different positions. Spence is said to be the main one at right-back, after the Boro man had a stunning season on loan with Nottingham Forest.
Indeed, reports over the weekend claimed Tottenham were set to ramp up their pursuit of Spence, with a £17m deal looking likely. However, according to Fabrizio Romano, all is not lost for Spurs if they don’t sign Spence, with Torino’s Wilfried Singo also on their radar as well.
7 Pre-Arranged Summer Transfers (2022)
“They sent their scouts to watch him (Spence) many, many times this year, together with Singo, the Torino full-back. He is another player they have scouted for a long, long time,” Romano said on the Chris Cowlin YouTube channel today.
Singo has been linked with a move to Tottenham before, so Romano’s comments are nothing brand new in terms of interest. However, it is worth noting that Romano says they’ve watched the Torino man many times, which suggests they’re ready to strike if needed.
TBR’s View: Singo And Spence Both Good Options For Tottenham
This is what any good, big club does in the window. They don’t throw all their eggs into one basket and Tottenham having both Singo and Spence lined up is good business by Paratici.
Of course, it does seem like Spence is the one they really want. But don’t count Singo out either, who has had another fine season in Italy and continues to look the business.
Tottenham are going to be busy this summer, you can sense it already. And in Singo and Spence, they’ll be getting a good full-back who Conte will no doubt improve further.
