Romano shares the latest on Mudryk to Arsenal talks
Arsenal are “really confident” they’ll sign Mykhaylo Mudryk this month, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The transfer insider told the House of Champions CBS podcast that the Gunners are speaking to Shakhtar Donetsk “every single day”.
However, Romano also stressed that rumours claiming Mudryk to Arsenal is a done deal are wide of the mark.
The January transfer window is in full swing, and the Gunners seem to have focused all their energies on Mudryk.
Little surprise really, as the 21-year-old looks like a star in the making and has impressed in the Champions League.
Better still, Mudryk has made it clear that he loves Arsenal and would like to play for the Gunners.
Indeed, Romano has claimed that the Ukraine international is “obsessed” with the North Londoners.
However, Shakhtar are still holding firm for €100million, added the Italian.
“I’ve seen many rumours in the last 2-3 days saying it’s almost done, Mudryk to Arsenal,” said Romano.
“At the moment it’s not done. At the moment it’s a negotiation between Arsenal and Shakhtar.
“They are speaking, they are negotiating, the player wants Arsenal and is helping Arsenal in the negotiations.
“They are confident, they are optimistic, but it’s not a done deal yet. Arsenal know that Shakhtar want €100million.
“We have to clarify that the player wants to go to Arsenal. The player is obsessed with Arsenal.
“So there’s also a kind of respect to the player. This is why they feel that, at the end, they can accept something less than €100million.
“But as of now, they are still asking for €100million.
“Let me just say that Arsenal are really confident because they’re speaking to Shakhtar every single day.
“They are pushing in negotiations. They’re trying to find a way with bonuses, with percentage of future sale, to create the package to give Shakhtar what they want.”
Arsenal on the right track as Romano reassures fans
Things still seem to be heading in the right direction regarding Arsenal and their pursuit of Mudryk.
While it’s not yet a done deal, it’s great to hear Romano say the Gunners feel confident about their chances of success.
Hopefully it won’t go on until the end of the transfer window. It’d be nice for Arsenal to land their top target with days to spare.
And with Chelsea signing Joao Felix, this will hopefully see them out of the equation in terms of moving for Mudryk.
Not that it would’ve made much difference player-side – he only wants Arsenal, and Arsenal want him.
