Romano says ‘extraordinary’ West Ham player has ‘desire’ to join CL giants, the two clubs are in talks

The future of West Ham midfielder Lucas Paqueta is now in doubt and journalist Fabrizio Romano has provided the latest on the future of the player.

It has been recently reported that the West Ham player has been attracting interest from a top Premier League club this week.

That club is Manchester City. Romano tweeted the latest on the future of Paqueta. He said: “Understand Manchester City and West Ham remain in contact to discuss Lucas Paquetá deal despite £70m verbal bid rejected. West Ham hope to keep the player but aware of Lucas desire to join City. Told including players in the deal could be an option to be discussed soon.”

This is huge news and is probably the first in which we have heard that the player could be allowed to leave this summer. It is clever for West Ham to accept a possible player-plus cash deal.

Manchester City want Lucas Paqueta

Of course West Ham fans will not want to lose the top player, especially in the same summer transfer window that the club sold Declan Rice.

Paqueta is a top player, and a huge Champions League winning team like Manchester City being interested emphasises how good the Brazilian is when at his best.

The ‘extraordinary‘ talent leaving would also add a big hole in terms of the attacking quality at the club. There are other good attackers at the club but Paqueta gels the team together.

West Ham will have to get a big offer if they want him. It isn’t a bad idea from Manchester City to sweeten the deal with some players in return.

The club have already been linked to a Manchester City player this summer in Kalvin Phillips. He would also be a great replacement for Declan Rice.

If they can get a decent fee as well as players of Phillips’ quality then it would definitely sweeten the blow of a top talent.
