Romano says Arsenal now in talks with agents of ‘unbelievable’ midfielder over deadline-day move

Fabrizio Romano has claimed that Arsenal are currently in talks with the representatives of Aston Villa’s Douglas Luiz.

The Gunners have enjoyed a fruitful transfer window so far, bringing in five players.

However, Mohamed Elneny’s injury last week has left Arsenal somewhat light in central midfield.

As a result, Edu and Mikel Arteta have reportedly decided to look into strengthening that area ahead of the deadline.

And Arsenal are apparently pushing to bring Luiz to the Emirates Stadium today.

Romano has been providing updates on the state of play between the Gunners, Villa and the Brazilian today.

His latest update on Twitter claimed that Luiz is “pushing” to join Arsenal.

Apparently, he wants the move, and official talks are ongoing over a £20million fee.

Personal terms won’t be an issue, added Romano.

And on Twitch – via Arsenal Guns – Romano claimed that Luiz’s representatives are currently in a meeting with Arsenal in pursuit of sealing a deal.

Romano also provided an update on CaughtOffside.

“Arsenal are in talks over signing Douglas Luiz,” he wrote.

“He wants to leave Aston Villa, so personal terms won’t be an issue, but discussions taking place over £20m fee.”

Luiz is well into the final year of his contract and Villa have a big decision to make regarding his future.

They can cash in on the “unbelievable” midfielder in the next few hours, or lose him for little in January, or nothing next summer.

Arsenal, meanwhile, have had a superb transfer window and could round things off nicely by completing a deal for Luiz.

The midfielder has been on the radar of Edu and Mikel Arteta for some time now and would represent yet another fine acquisition.
