Fabrizio Romano has taken to Twitter to suggest that Newcastle remain in talks to sign Joao Pedro despite having a second bid rejected – and insisted that their pursuit is not over yet.

It appears that the Watford starlet is the name at the top of their wishlist as Eddie Howe looks for his first attacking addition of the summer.

In fact, they have already made two bids for the 20-year-old. The second was worth £25 million, with Newcastle offering £22 million up front for the Brazilian.

However, the Championship side have snubbed that offer. But Newcastle are not yet ready to throw in the towel.

Romano is now reporting that Newcastle remain in discussions with the Hornets over a deal. And he has hinted that a third bid for the striker is certainly a possibility…

It has been a frustrating window for Newcastle when it comes to trying to sign attacking players.

Howe’s men have made some impressive signings. But clearly, the manager would rather not be making substantial bids at this stage of the window.

Joao Pedro is an interesting target for the Magpies. He has not yet proved to be too prolific at Vicarage Road.

However, he is clearly an immense talent. And he should have an ‘incredible‘ future ahead.

Certainly, if he realises his potential, he could be an absolutely inspired signing in the final days of the window.

Newcastle are struggling to agree a fee. But Romano has suggested that they are not ready to admit defeat just yet.
