Arsenal are in the market for a new midfielder it would seem.

The Gunners have been linked with a number of new options in the centre of the park as of late.

The likes of Joao Palhinha and Arthur Vermeeren have been linked as of late, but according to Fabrizio Romano, Arsenal have their eye on two midfielders who they believe to be the most interesting in the world.

Speaking on Kick, Romano stated that Arsenal are huge fans of both Martin Zubimendi and Douglas Luiz, claiming that staff at the Emirates think they are two of the most interesting midfield players on the planet right now.

Luiz and Zubimendi among the most interesting players in the world

Romano shared what he knows about Arsenal’s view of these two players.

“For Zubimendi, Arsenal have liked Zubimendi for a long time, there are players like Zubimendi, like Pedro Neto and like Douglas Luiz that Arsenal have always appreciated. Arsenal have negotiated for some of them in different moments. Arsenal’s strategy is regular, if they like a player they will keep following that player and they can return, this is the case for Zubimendi because Zubimendi is super appreciated by Arsenal, people at the club think that Zubimendi and Douglas Luiz are among the most interesting midfielders in the world at the moment,” Romano said.

Won’t be easy

Zubimendi and Luiz are undoubtedly two incredible players, but bringing them to the Emirates really won’t be easy.

Indeed, both players have big reasons to snub a move to the Emirates this month.

Aston Villa are actually above Arsenal in the league right now, so it’s hard to imagine Luiz will be in any rush to leave Villa Park at the moment.

Meanwhile, Real Sociedad are through to the next round of the Champions League and as a homegrown star, Zubimendi won’t be looking to abandon ship while the La Liga club are on the brink of something so special.

These two are targets to keep an eye on, but a January move for either would be a surprise.
