Romano has just provided an exciting, unexpected update for Arsenal fans on 'complete' striker - TBR View
Arsenal are certain to look for new strikers in the summer transfer window.
The Gunners have just two senior centre-forwards in their ranks right now – Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah.
Both players are also out of contract at the Emirates Stadium at the end of the season.
Arsenal offloaded Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in January and weren’t able to bring in a replacement.
Luckily, Nketiah has hit form at just the right time, and the Gunners might have enough to finish in the top four.
The likes of Gabriel Jesus and Victor Osimhen have been linked with Arsenal ahead of the summer.
“There are many clubs interested”
And another striker who seemingly looked off limits may still be available after all.
Gianluca Scamacca “will leave Sassuolo” this summer, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The Italy international has recently signed a new contract at the Serie A club.
However, Romano claims this is to protect Sassuolo with regards to one of their main assets.
Their plan is still to cash in on Scamacca, suggested the transfer expert.
“Yes, yes, he will leave Sassuolo,” Romano said on Rio Ferdinand Presents FIVE.
“He extended the contract a few days ago but he will leave Sassuolo.
“It was an extension to allow a potential loan with obligation to buy clause.
“So that’s why he extended the contract, and yes, there are many clubs interested in him.
“In January Borussia Dortmund were asking about him. There are many clubs interested.”
Admittedly, Romano also reckons Scamacca might choose to stay in Italy.
But surely the chance of regular first-team football at a leading Premier League club – in the Champions League if all goes well – would be tempting for him?
“He can become a very high-level centre-forward”
This is an unexpected update – and perhaps an exciting one for Arsenal fans.
That’s because Scamacca has emerged as one of Italy’s finest young strikers this season.
The 6ft 5in powerhouse has 13 goals from 34 Serie A appearances this term, and has received comparisons to Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
Scamacca is dominant in the air, holds the ball up well, can pick out a killer pass and is mobile for his size.
Former Italy Under-21 coach Luigi Di Biago praised the 23-year-old in December last year.
“Given that in my opinion Immobile and Belotti are very good, I think Scamacca is very strong,” Di Biagio told La Gazzetta dello Sport, via Forza Italian Football.
“And I’ve been thinking about it for a long time. I believed in him to the point of calling him into the Under-21 very quickly.
“He can become a very high-level centre-forward.”
Di Biagio considers Scamacca to be a complete striker for his ability to dominate in the air and his neat ball control with both feet.
“He has the technique of a (5ft 10in) player and the physicality of a (6ft 5in) player, like him,” he added.
“And then he is complete: right foot, left, head, he attacks from deep, but also plays on the edge for his teammates.”
