Romano confirms Marquinhos will join Arsenal; official statement imminent
Fabrizio Romano has taken to Twitter to report that there will be an official statement soon confirming that Marquinhos will join Arsenal for a fee of around £3 million.
Marquinhos has looked set to be the Gunners’ first signing of the summer for a little while. Reports previously claimed that Arsenal were closing in on the youngster.
The 19-year-old has made 16 appearances for São Paulo this season. He has featured on both wings for the club. And he looks set to follow in the footsteps of Gabriel Martinelli, who made his way from Brazil to the Emirates back in 2019.
Martinelli has proved to be an inspired signing. He made an unbelievable start to life at Arsenal. And after a difficult period with injury, he appears to be right back on track.
And from next season, his countryman will join him. The teenager will cost Arsenal £3 million, according to Romano. He will also sign a five-year contract in North London in the coming days.
Interestingly, the journalist has suggested that an announcement is now imminent.

Marquinhos will join Arsenal
Certainly, Arsenal fans will be absolutely delighted if Marquinhos can emulate Martinelli once he arrives at the Emirates.
The Gunners need a big summer. Unfortunately, they appear set for the disappointment of missing out on making the top four in the Premier League.
Marquinhos is a signing for the future. And he may not feature too often next season. But it would be seriously exciting if he could hit the ground running.
It definitely appears that there is set to be a boost ahead of the final day of the campaign with an announcement on his arrival now just around the corner.
