Liverpool have delayed announcing the signing of Fabio Carvalho while Fulham’s push for Premier League promotion continues, says Fabrizio Romano.

Marco Silva’s side lost 3-1 against Coventry City at Craven Cottage yesterday and Carvalho played the full 90 minutes.

Fulham’s immediate return to the top-flight as the champions of the second-tier looks a formality despite the hiccup against Mark Robins side.

Silva’s men, who are top of the table, are 16 points clear of third-placed Nottingham Forest who have seven games and 21 points to play for.

Romano has assured Liverpool fans that Jurgen Klopp’s side have completed the deal to sign the wonderkid and there is no chance of the move being hijacked by other clubs.

The Reds chased the teenager until the very end of the January transfer window but were unable to get a deal over the line.

The 19-year-old Portuguese playmaker has already pitted his wits in the Premier League from the back end of last season where he scored one goal from four appearances.

The Portuguese Under-21 international has played an influential role in steering Silva’s side to the brink of an immediate Premier League return.

Carvalho has eight goals and seven assists from 32 matches this season.

Romano has previously stated that Carvalho’s medical is already completed, and that Fulham have approved that.

A £5million fee initially plus £2.7 million more in add-ons will be paid and the teenager has penned a deal to be a Liverpool player until 2027.

There is a sell-on clause included in the deal, although it is not specified exactly what that is.

With Fulham edging closer to the Premier League, Carvalho’s official confirmation as Liverpool player will likely follow shortly after.

After signing Harvey Elliott from the Londoners in July 2019, Klopp’s side have also landed another huge prospect from the talented Fulham conveyor belt.
