Roma reportedly now want to take Dejan Lovren on loan from Liverpool

Italian side Roma want to take Liverpool defender Dejan Lovren on a loan deal with an option to buy, according to Sky Sports.

The Sun reported earlier this week that the Serie A outfit wanted to buy him for £25 million, but they have now apparently moved towards a loan bid.

That would apparently perhaps contain an option to buy him dependent on how many appearances he makes in Italy this season.

The report says that Liverpool are willing to allow Lovren to leave if the move is correct for all parties – but would a loan deal really make sense for the Reds?

TBR’s View – Why would Liverpool loan Lovren out?

Liverpool have already seen with their goalkeeping situation how quickly injuries can transform the landscape and the presence of an unspectacular but experienced campaigner in Adrian has made a real difference.

Meanwhile, if Liverpool loaned Lovren, they would be close to needing to throw Sepp van den Burg or Ki-Jana Hoever into the heat of a title race.

At least if they sold him, the financial rewards would make the risk make sense, but not getting any money up front but still being short defensively wouldn’t make a great deal of sense for Jurgen Klopp.
