'I'm 27 now': Arsenal-linked star hints at potential summer switch
Udinese midfielder, Rodrigo De Paul, has spoken briefly on his future, amid interest from the likes of Arsenal and Liverpool in the Premier League.
The Argentinian midfielder has been on the radar of English clubs for some time now. De Paul came close to signing for Leeds United last summer, only for a deal to never get over the line.
De Paul, then, stayed with Udinese but has seen his stock rise even further after another fine season. He’s now in-demand. Atletico Madrid are also said to be keen.
The 27-year-old is bound to move on this summer. However, speaking to The Guardian this weekend, De Paul remained coy, although he did hint at being open to a move away from Italy.
“I was very sincere, very clear with whom I had to be clear,” De Paul said.
“I said what I thought. What I want. I’m 27 now. I’m not going to speak anywhere else because I respect everyone at Udinese. Especially the fans who really love me.”
A powerhouse midfielder with excellent ability on the ball, it’s easy to see why Arsenal want the Argentine. The Gunners are looking for a new midfielder this summer.
De Paul, along with the likes of Sander Berge, Yves Bissouma, and Ruben Neves, is said to be on the wishlist of Mikel Arteta.
Rodrigo De Paul perfect for Arsenal but Gunners face age old problem
And that problem is the lack of European football at the club. Why De Paul would leave Udinese to join a team nowhere near challenging, would be a bit of an odd one.
Arsenal could find themselves with this problem all summer. Players want to play at the very top level, which sadly, the Gunners aren’t offering at the moment.
However, if Arsenal can land De Paul, it would be quite the signing. He’s got everything a top midfielder needs, and would appear tailor made for the Premier League.
