Rodri says Liverpool have a £34m player who is his toughest opponent ever

Rodri has played against some of the very best players in the world since signing for Manchester City.

Indeed, the midfielder has come up against the best of the best in the Premier League, from Cristiano Ronaldo all the way to Bukayo Saka.

Of course, Rodri, more often than not, is able to overcome his rivals, hence why he’s the incumbent Ballon d’Or holder.

However, speaking to Telemundo Deportes, Rodri was asked to name his toughest opponent since arriving in the Premier League, and he gave a rather interesting answer.

According to Rodri, Mohamed Salah is actually his toughest opponent since arriving in England.

According to the Spaniard, Mohamed Salah is the best player he has faced in this period as Liverpool and Manchester City had many famous battles throughout this time.

“Who has been your toughest opponent over all these years? In the Premier League and in the Champions League too?” Rodri was asked.

“I would say here in the Premier League. I would say Salah, in his prime,” Rodri said.

Meanwhile, Bernardo Silva gave a very similar answer too:

“Liverpool, Salah, Madrid with Vinicius and Rodrygo. In the Champions League it’s Madrid and in the Premier League it’s Liverpool,” Silva said.

Rodri has had a tough time against Salah over the years, and the stats back this up.

Indeed, Salah has been a constant thorn in Manchester City’s side in recent times, and the numbers show just how brilliant the £34m man has been in these perennial top of the table clashes.

Eight goals in 13 appearances is a remarkable record, but it isn’t at all surprising.

Indeed, Salah has been in Ballon d’Or winning form over the past 12 months, and he’s showing no sign of slowing down.
