After a bumpy start to the season, Brendan Rodgers has got Celtic back on track going into the international break.
The 0-0 draw against Livingston was a minor bump in the road but it will not dampen the positive atmosphere around the club at present.
They have come through something of an injury crisis in recent weeks to reaffirm their authority as Scotland’s top club.
One man who has been at the heart of that rise back to the top of the table, qualification for the final of the Betfred cup and the impressive 2-1 win over RB Leizpig last week has been Ryan Christie.
The Scotsman has been rewarded with a new Parkhead contract and Brendan Rodgers should use the international pause to follow that up with an extended deal for Dedryck Boyata.
He angered some fans at the beginning of the season with his attitude when the prospect of a move was on the table but there is no doubt Rodgers’ defence is sturdier when the former Manchester City man is in it.
Getting Boyata tied down would offer his defence more security, or at the very least, ensure Celtic get a bumper transfer fee if he does leave at some stage.
