Robin van Persie has told Kaj Gorgels on his official YouTube channel that he begged Arsene Wenger to sign Georgio Chiellini for Arsenal.
The former Gunners striker has claimed that Wenger asked him for some assistance on transfers during his time as a player at the Emirates Stadium
Chiellini was responsible for injuring the striker in 2009 during a Champions League clash between Arsenal and Juventus.

The Dutchman believed he would have been a sound signing for the Gunners and he’d have loved him at the Emirates Stadium.
He said on Gorgels’ YouTube channel: “At a given moment I felt called upon to say what Arsenal could do better in order to win the league. I felt we lacked a winning mentality, and asked Arsene Wenger to sign Georgio Chiellini.
“I have played against him a few times and he is a genuine winner.
“He’s 36 now but he’ll dish out nine elbows a game with a smile on his face. He’ll keep smiling and never get a yellow card. You need those types of winners and killers in your side. I felt we should get him.”
TBR View – Chiellini is what the current Arsenal side lacks
For far too long the Gunners have had a soft underbelly and sadly that is still evident this season.
Mikel Arteta signed relatively well in the summer but ultimately his team is still in desperate need of a leader.
Chiellini has won nine league titles and four Italian Cups during his time with Juventus and he knows what it takes to win.

He’s become a true legend at Juve and also has 105 appearances to his name for the national team.
His 514 appearances for Juventus have seen him lead the club to countless titles and the £107,000-a-week warrior will go down as a club icon.
Arsenal don’t have a single player in their ranks who you can see doing the same and something has to change.
Arteta’s first port of call is to stop the rot but after that, he must identify a player with some true leadership qualities.
