Liverpool forward Roberto Firmino has given his thoughts on playing in a deeper role when his team needs it in order to keep their title bid on track.
The £29 million (BBC) forward is as happy to play further up as a number nine as in the more withdrawn number ten role in which he is deployed when Liverpool are chasing a game.
He told Premier League Productions, as per the Daily Mail: “I am a guy who respects my position on the pitch – where the team needs me, I will play.
“As a number nine, but sometimes I play as a number ten, and I try to give my best. That is just me, my personality, to try to be a good and humble guy.”

Liverpool have faced constant criticism of their squad depth but they are able to get back into matches with tactical alterations and Firmino is a big part of that.
While it makes sense to get Sadio Mane and especially Mo Salah into more direct striking roles when chasing a game, Firmino can drop deeper to link the game up while still offering a goal threat.
