Roberto De Zerbi comments on Alexis Mac Allister amid Liverpool links

Liverpool are one of several clubs reportedly in pursuit of Argentina star Alexis Mac Allister.

The Reds are in need of overhauling their midfield this year amid ageing legs and expiring contracts.

While Jude Bellingham is Liverpool’s top target, other names have been doing the rounds.

One of those is Mac Allister, whose stock has risen in wake of a wonderful World Cup.

Italy’s Gazzetta dello Sport claims Mac Allister is on Liverpool’s list of potential midfield targets.

As well as Liverpool, the likes of Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur, Juventus and Atletico Madrid have been linked.

Now, Brighton & Hove Albion manager Roberto De Zerbi has once again praised his player.

Speaking to La Repubblica, he said: “Alexis Mac Allister, great player and pleasant man.

“His biggest quality is that Alexis always does the right thing at right moment – it’s stunning.”

Liverpool – or any other suitors – are probably going to struggle to sign Mac Allister this month.

Brighton are enjoying a superb season and will fancy their chances of finishing in the European places.

Mac Allister himself has told BBC Radio Sussex – via 90Min – that he’s in ‘no rush to leave’ the Amex Stadium.

“I feel really good with this club and my team-mates, and everyone who works here,” he said.

“I try not to read too much, I always say I am really happy here and I don’t have any rush to leave. I’m focused on the next game with this club.”

In terms of price tag, 90Min has claimed that Brighton are willing to open talks for £50million plus.

A good shout for Liverpool but Mac Allister is no Bellingham – TBR View

Mac Allister would be a solid signing for Liverpool.

He has proven himself at the highest level, shining in the Premier League and at major international tournaments.

That said, it remains to be seen whether Liverpool have the funds to sign him as well as Jude Bellingham.

The Reds should go all out on Bellingham, because he really has the potential to become the best midfielder in the world.

Obviously Mac Allister is world class too, but if it was a case of ‘either or’, then Bellingham should (and probably will) be the priority.
