Robert Snodgrass has applauded Joe Powell on Twitter after the West Ham United youngster scored a stunning goal for the Hammers’ under-23s on Monday night.
The Irons romped to a 4-0 victory at the bet365 Stadium. The win moved the side three points clear at the top of Premier League 2 Division Two. West Ham have now won seven and drawn one of their opening eight games.

And one moment from the game caught the eye of first-team star Snodgrass.
Joe Powell broke the deadlock inside seven minutes with an outrageous goal. The visitors won the ball back immediately as the Stoke goalkeeper attempted to pass the ball up towards the halfway line.

Powell took one touch and then unleashed a stunning lob from around 40 yards. The goalkeeper managed to get back towards his six-yard line before the ball went over him.
And yet, Powell’s effort was flat enough to then dip under the bar and find the back of the net. It was a stunning finish from the 20-year-old.
And the goal prompted Snodgrass to send a message to the midfield prospect on social media…
Nathan Holland would bag a brace to stake his own claim to Manuel Pellegrini. And the final goal came in stoppage-time as Anthony Scully took his tally into double figures for the season.
