Robbie Savage has told BT Sport – as per the Express – that he believes Aston Villa captain Jack Grealish would be “incredible” at Liverpool amid reports that Manchester City are interested in raiding Villa for the playmaker.
Grealish, 25, has been in sensational form this season. Since Villa’s return to the Premier League, he has upped his game and broken into the England side – having a hand in 10 Premier League goals in just eight games this season.
The Independent have claimed that Manchester City are trying to sign Grealish, with Pep Guardiola asking his club to land the player. Tottenham’s Harry Kane and Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi have also been discussed.
But Guardiola wants Grealish – who has an agreement with Aston Villa that he would not be sold unless an offer of at least £100million comes in for him. Savage thinks Grealish would be incredible for Liverpool – or Manchester City.
“He has got to be £100m in this transfer market,” Savage told BT Sport, as per the Express. “No doubt about it. He has got to be £100m. Imagine him with better players around him as well. Imagine him in a Man City team or Liverpool team. Incredible.”
TBR’s view – Would Grealish be as good at City or Liverpool?
At Villa, he is the kind of player that thrives off being the club’s captain. He is given the freedom to do what he likes – shoot from range, try the million-dollar pass, and wear the armband. He is shining for Villa.
Joining a Liverpool or a City would see him no longer be the club’s best player – indeed, he would be surrounded by players that are on a level playing field and that may dent his confidence. It might mean that he struggles to recapture his Villa form.
But he is a top player at the top of his game and one of England’s most-exciting players. Even Jurgen Klopp said on Sky Sports this season: ” Grealish, of course, what a footballer! In a one on one situation he can go inside and it’s a big chance.”
