Robbie Savage says £63m Man City player is better than anyone at Arsenal

Arsenal drew with Manchester City at the weekend, and, from the outside looking in, you’d say that’s a great result for the Gunners.

Indeed, you can never turn your nose up at a draw at the Etihad against the Premier League champions, but the manner of this defeat was disappointing for Arsenal.

Arsenal conceded a last minute equaliser against City, while the game was also marred by a few dodgy refereeing decisions and injuries.

Indeed, Arsenal’s first goal was contentious, Leandro Trossard’s red card was controversial, while Rodri went off injured during the game.

Speaking on BBC 606, Chris Sutton and Robbie Savage have been discussing Rodri’s injury with a caller who noted that the midfielder didn’t look up to speed all afternoon.

This led to a bit of a debate around Rodri’s quality, and Robbie Savage made his view very clear, claiming that the £63m Man City man would be Arsenal’s best player if he played for Mikel Arteta’s side.

Rodri would be Arsenal’s best player

Savage and Sutton debated Rodri’s performance and ability.

“I don’t think anyone in the world other than you would say that Rodri would chuck one in, he’s had a decent career so far,” Sutton said.

“He has, but he wasn’t up to speed today,” The caller said.

“Rodri would be Arsenal’s best player,” Savage said.

Rodri is one of the best in the world

Savage says that Rodri would be Arsenal’s best player, and he isn’t too far wrong.

The Spaniard is one of the favourites to win the Ballon d’Or this season for a reason, he’s been playing at a world-class level for club and country for a long time now, and he’s arguably the best player in the Premier League at the moment.

Sadly, the midfielder has suffered a serious ACL injury that will leave him out of action until the end of the season.

Fingers crossed Rodri can return to full fitness next term and quickly rediscover his best form.
