Robbie Savage has been impressed by Leicester City’s start to the new season and believes centre-forward Jamie Vardy is looking at his sharpest.
The Foxes sit third in the Premier League table during the first international break, with eight points from their opening four games.
Brendan Rodgers’ side have made an unbeaten start to the campaign and also progressed past Newcastle United in the second round of the Carabao Cup on penalties.
Vardy has three goals and one assist in the opening five matches, as he continues to spearhead the Leicester attack so effectively.
The 32-year-old is proving a nightmare for defenders with his well recognised high pressing and he now has time to recover during the break, as he previously stepped away from England duty.
Ex-Leicester midfielder Savage believes that his former side can potentially break into the top six in the Premier League and feels they are best equipped to do so.
“Leicester look like the best ‘dark horse’ bet to break into the top six, if not the top four, this season,” Savage told the Mirror.
“Jamie Vardy is terrorising defenders, playing on the shoulder of the last man, again. Manager Brendan Rodgers has got a good mix and the Foxes’ unbeaten start is no fluke.”
Vardy is definitely one of the best strikers in the Premier League and has been now for a number of years.
The rapid centre-forward netted 18 goals last season in the top-flight and he is definitely showing no signs of slowing down.
His form is going to be crucial if the Foxes are to break into the top six, but they of course can take inspiration from their memorable title win in the 2015/16 campaign and Vardy was at the heart of their success back then.
He has brilliant service from playmakers such as James Maddison and Youri Tielemans, while Rodgers has his team set up playing an exciting brand of football that can trouble anyone on its day.
