Raheem Sterling didn’t have the best of days against Leicester City on Sunday.
The winger missed a penalty against the Foxes and went viral for all the wrong reasons with his remarkably mis-hit free kick that almost ended up in Row Z of an opposite stand.
Sterling’s performance didn’t go down well with the fans at Stamford Bridge on the day, so much so that they were even booing their own player.
Speaking on BBC 606, Chris Sutton and Robbie Savage have been discussing the fact that Sterling was booed by his own supporters on Sunday, and it’s fair to say they weren’t impressed by this sort of behaviour.

Chelsea fans shouldn’t boo Sterling
Sutton and Savage spoke about the winger.
“My son was at the Chelsea game, he said there was a strange atmosphere. Serious point, Raheem Sterling, what’s the point in booing him? If you’re a Chelsea fan it has a negative impact on the team, it doesn’t help at all,” Sutton said.
“Agree, Agree, poor,” Savage said.
What’s the point?
Every fan has had that moment in a stadium where a player has frustrated you to the point of almost tearing your hair out.
However, to boo one of your own players during a cup quarter-final seems very counter-productive.
Chelsea needed to win this game to save their season, the fans should’ve been behind every single player willing them on to victory.
We’re not going to pretend as though Sterling’s performance at the weekend was anything close to being acceptable, and he probably should be dropped from the team now, but booing your own player in your own stadium will never be anything but counter-productive.
Savage and Sutton clearly aren’t fans of such behaviour, and we have to agree with the two pundits on this occasion.
