Robbie Savage has claimed on BBC Radio 5 Live that Borussia Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho would start for Liverpool should the English wonderkid move to Anfield, ahead of Mo Salah.
Sancho, who turns 20 at the end of the month, has been in sensational form once again for Dortmund – in his second full season in the Dortmund first team since his move from Manchester City. He has been involved in 36 goals, in just 34 outings.
It has seen Sancho linked with a return to the Premier League. The Liverpool Echo claim Liverpool, Manchester United and Chelsea are all interested in the 11-time England international – but would have to pay a whopping £120million.
The jury is out on whether Sancho would get into Liverpool’s starting eleven, and whether the Reds should pay a nine-figure fee for a player that would not start ahead of Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane. But Savage reckons he would be first choice.

“I would play Sancho, next season, and this is just my opinion,” Savage said. “The front three at Liverpool, amazing. Salah has got 20 goals this season for the third season in a row. Firmino brilliant. Mane brilliant.
“I would play Sancho, if it was me, next season, instead of Salah. He’s got the most assists for a teenager? Can Salah get any better? It is a very difficult question, who could improve Liverpool’s front three next season.”
TBR’s view – Would Sancho get ahead of Salah or Mane?
Realistically, he will not be replacing Firmino whose role is far different to Sancho’s natural position out wide. In a Dortmund side that are free-flowing, Sancho would almost certainly fail to replicate the stats in the much harder Premier League.
Salah has been guilty of missing a few guilt-edged opportunities this season, against Manchester United most notably. Certainly, he is not of the form that he first joined Liverpool in, but he is still better than Sancho at this moment in time.
If Liverpool signed Sancho, the Englishman would still get plenty of chances given that Salah’s game time is only going to reduce. It would either bring the best out of Salah given the competition, or see Sancho overtake him. The latter is possible.
