Robbie Keane was amongst those to send messages of congratulations to Jermain Defoe after the Rangers star made his 800th career appearance at the weekend as the Ibrox side extended their lead at the top of the Scottish Premiership.
Defoe has enjoyed a phenomenal career. He is one of the all-time leading goalscorers in Premier League history. And he has appeared for his country over 50 times.

The 38-year-old is continuing to contribute at the highest level. Defoe has four goals in eight games in all competitions this season for Steven Gerrard’s side.
The latest came on Sunday as he rounded off the scoring in Rangers’s 4-0 win at Ross County.

The goal was particularly notable because it came on a landmark day for Defoe. And unsurprisingly, the forward took to social media to mark the occasion…
Amongst those to reply to Defoe was Keane. The pair played together at Tottenham Hotspur, with both men enjoying two spells in North London.
Of course, Keane may not be best pleased to see Defoe score quite so many goals at this stage of his career. The Republic of Ireland international spent some time on loan with their bitter rivals more than a decade ago.
But the retired striker still reached out to his old teammate to congratulate him on the milestone…
