Former Liverpool striker, Robbie Fowler, has issued a damning verdict on Manchester United ahead of this weekend’s clash between the two Premier League titans.
The Reds currently sit second in the table, with five wins from their opening eight games. United, meanwhile, have won four, but have struggled in certain games, including last week’s loss at Leicester City. In fact, the Red Devils have won just two from five in the league.

Fowler, who has scored himself in this fixture, knows all too well how important the game is. But speaking on Sky Sports today, the ex-Red believes that Manchester United are some way off being as good as Liverpool, Chelsea, or Manchester City.
“The games they have won are against teams who have relatively struggled so far this year. So there’s a lot of work to be done for Ole,” Fowler told Sky Sports.
“They know that they need to perform…I’m thinking miracles at the moment. Because I think they’re even further behind teams like Manchester City and Liverpool than people think. Even Chelsea. Liverpool are different class. They’re one of the best Liverpool teams I’ve ever seen.”
United could go into the game without the likes of Bruno Fernandes, Marcus Rashford, and Fred.
TBR’s View: Fowler is right but don’t count this Manchester United side out
Of course, Fowler makes a good point here. United are some way off being at the level City and Liverpool have shown in recent times.
But, he will know as well as anyone you can’t write off a Manchester United team against Liverpool. In the heat of the moment, anything can happen.
Further, United’s attacking prowess could also shine through. They have some serious talent, with Ronaldo only adding to that this summer. Rest assured, Jurgen Klopp will be taking nothing for granted this weekend.
