Robbie Fowler has told the Sunday Mirror (28/3; page 79) that John McGinn is a top class talent and insisted that the Aston Villa star is made for the big stage following his superb goal for Scotland this week.
It has not been an easy time for the Villans squad lately. Dean Smith’s side have won one of their last seven, and they have failed to score in four of those games.

The international break has arguably come at a good time for Villa. The break reduces the number of games Jack Grealish is sidelined for, and it may help provide the side with an platform to get out of their rut.
One player who has certainly made an impact while away with his country is McGinn. The combative midfielder scored a superb overhead kick to equalise for Scotland in their World Cup qualifier with Austria at Hampden Park.

It was a goal that Fowler claimed reminded him of one he scored at Charlton in 2001. And he suggested that it highlighted how good McGinn can be.
“McGinn’s goal certainly proved that he has a real talent, and is made for a big stage,” he told the Sunday Mirror.
“He’s been unlucky with injuries, but you can see he’s coming back now to the sort of form that made many people believe he’d be a top-class talent.
“There’s something about him, that easy technique and comfort on the ball, and he has a touch of quality.”
TBR View: McGinn not a stranger to the spectacular
Villa fans will not be surprised to see McGinn score a world-class goal. You would have to go a long way to find a better strike than the one he produced against Sheffield Wednesday in 2018.
And he is certainly one of the players who should have plenty to say when the lazy accusation is made that Villa are simply a one-man team.
