Liverpool legend Robbie Fowler has already delivered his verdict on Alexander Isak as the Reds edge closer to the signing of the Newcastle star.

Liverpool are in talks with Newcastle over Isak and have already tested the Magpies’ resolve with a bid.

TBR Football revealed on Friday that Isak is confident a Liverpool move will go through, and it looks as though it’s just a matter of time before a breakthrough is made.

Fowler recently spoke about the prospect of Isak joining the Reds, and he’s certainly looking forward to seeing the Sweden international at Anfield.

Robbie Fowler thinks Alexander Isak can be ‘the difference’ for Liverpool

Robbie Fowler, speaking on The RedMen TV in July, described Alexander Isak as “phenomenal” and expressed his hopes of seeing him in the famous red shirt of Liverpool.

The Anfield icon also said he feels Isak could be “the difference” for Arne Slot’s side when it comes to challenging on multiple fronts.

“As a Liverpool fan, we would all love to see him, wouldn’t we?” Fowler said.

“When you look at the Premier League and the goals he scored last year, the types of goals and his performances, he was phenomenal.

“Hopefully, he can carry that on, and hopefully it will be at Liverpool.

“If you were to pick one player from the Premier League last year who you would have wanted to sign for Liverpool, he would probably be on 90 per cent of people’s lips.

“We probably needed that pivotal striker on the pitch last season. He could be the difference if he were to come.”

How much Liverpool may have to pay for Alexander Isak

TBR Football have confirmed that Liverpool offered Newcastle around £120million for Isak, but the bid was turned down.

It is understood that the Magpies value Isak closer to £150million, and there is an expectation that Liverpool will return with another offer.

However, we understand that a fee “above £130million and close to £140million” is likely to be enough for Newcastle.
