Robbie Fowler claims Liverpool squad won't begrudge new Salah deal
Robbie Fowler has no doubts over a new Salah deal.
Mohamed Salah is one of the best players in the world.
The Egyptian recently joined the Premier League 100 club and continuously shows why he’s a Liverpool great.
On the back of his incredible form for Liverpool, there’s plenty of talk over a new contract.
The current deal that Salah is tied to expires in summer 2023.
That means that in just over a year, should he not sign a new deal, Salah will be able to begin talks with clubs over a free transfer.
Liverpool cannot afford to let that happen and Robbie Fowler has had his say.
The Anfield legend has a strong view on the situation too.
Speaking in The Mirror, Fowler stated:
“Liverpool must realise that Mo is now one of the best players in the world, whether they like it or not.”
I honestly don’t think there will be any problems with Mo becoming easily the best paid player at Anfield.”
“There will be no, ‘Oh he doesn’t deserve that because he is an average player’. No way.”
“I would be absolutely amazed if there is one single player in that Liverpool dressing room who is saying he doesn’t deserve a contract to match his world-class status.”
Robbie Fowler has no doubts over a new Salah deal
It’s hard to argue with Fowler’s reasoning.
Salah is clearly one of the best in the world.
No player at Liverpool should begrudge the Egyptian his new deal.
However, it’s still up to FSG to get a contract on the table.
The current terms Salah is on see him earn a reported £200,000-a-week (Spotrac).
If he’s to sign a new deal, that figure will likely go up, but his teammates can’t complain given his fantastic output.
