Republic of Ireland international Robbie Brady has been singing the praises of Tottenham Hotspur youngster Troy Parrott, who is set to make his debut for the senior team this week.

The 17-year-old has been confirmed as a starter for the Irish when they take on New Zealand in an international friendly this evening.

It comes after months of good form from the former Belvedere player with both the Irish and Tottenham youth teams.

Parrott’s rise has not gone unnoticed by Burnley winger Brady. As reported by The Irish Times, he suggested the Tottenham teen was fitting right into training with the seniors.

“No one pushes on as quick as he has without going in and doing things right. He seems to have got his head down and trained well; he is pushing on great.

“It’s great for him, he seems to have the backing of [Tottenham manager Mauricio] Pochettino to play in those games with Tottenham in pre-season, at such a young age. I watched a couple of the games and he didn’t look out of place. At such a young age, he’s a credit to himself.”

“He’s a confident young lad; he didn’t train like he was nervous yesterday. It didn’t seem to faze him at all. It’s a great boost if there are people like him coming in and around.”

It is certainly great to hear that Parrott is impressing his new team-mates but Tottenham fans will not be surprised.

The wonderkid is already showcasing maturity well beyond his years with the Tottenham first-team and many fans would like to see him getting more regular playing time in Mauricio Pochettino’s squad.

Hopefully, Parrott can prove a point against the All Whites this evening and have Tottenham fans talking even more about the young starlet.
