Rob Holding reacts on Instagram to Calum Chambers display in Arsenal win

Calum Chambers made an instant impact for Arsenal last night. He stepped off the bench to replace Ben White and within 23 seconds he had opened the scoring. After the game, he received praise on Instagram from Rob Holding.

The defender has struggled with injuries during his relatively short career. He struggled for game time during 2020/21 having needed over a year to recover from a cruciate ligament injury.

Chambers checked in at Arsenal from Southampton in 2014. He was tipped back then as a burgeoning talent, although injuries have hampered his progress somewhat.

In seven years at the Emirates Stadium, he has played 121 games for the club, scoring five goals and claiming 10 assists in the red and white of Arsenal.

During 2021/22 he has only featured twice in the Premier League and hasn’t even been on the bench for the last five top-flight contests. Last night he managed 35 minutes of action and showcased his talents at centre-back.

My Revenge On Ben Foster

It will certainly be interesting to see what happens with the three-cap England utility man. Given that he’s now 26, he will be keen to play regular football and doing that with Arsenal looks unlikely.

What has Holding said to Arsenal player Chambers?

The Gunners central defender was the captain for the night last night. After starring himself against Leeds, he took some time out to praise his teammate on Instagram.

He posted a six-word response to his post which celebrated his opening goal, praising the versatile defender for his efforts after replacing Ben White in the second half.

It’s a fascinating situation that Chambers finds himself in. He rarely lets Arsenal down when he is called upon, yet finds himself so far down the pecking order that he’s barely getting a kick.

That might have to change if he is to stay at Arsenal but the £52,000-a-week player did his chances of game time no harm at all with his performance last night.
