Arsenal managed to pick up a crucial win at West Ham today as their topsy-turvy battle with Tottenham continued.
Spurs had won against Leicester earlier in the day to pile the pressure on the Gunners. However, a battling display against the Hammers ensured a huge three points for Mikel Arteta’s side. It means they’re now just three behind Chelsea in third as well, in a race for the top four which is tighter than ever.

However, things could have been different for Arsenal today. West Ham had equalised just before the break and according to Rob Holding, it sparked Gunners boss Mikel Arteta into delivering some home truths to the players.
“Yeah, we were a bit disappointed to concede that coming in just before half time,” he said to Arsenal Media after the game,” Holding told Arsenal.com.
“It would have been nice to go in one-nil, but he gave us all a shouting and telling off and we came out and looked more like a team and played how he wanted to play.”
Holding himself won the praise of his manager at the end of the game. Arteta labelled Holding as man of the match, and insisted he is is a crucial player for the Gunners.
TBR’s View: Arteta Has The Respect Of Arsenal Dressing Room Now
The Gunners boss took some big punts with decisions around the likes of Aubameyang and more, but he is reaping the rewards of that now.
Arteta is leading by example and clearly, the players are loving life under the Spaniard. There is a clear direction in how the Gunners want to play, and the players are fully invested.
At the end of the day, a team needs to respect their manager if he is delivering instructions in the dressing room. It seems that’s what’s happened today, and it appears to have done the trick.
