West Ham United midfielder Lucas Paqueta helped Brazil triumph in their first game at the 2022 World Cup.
The Hammers ace played 75 minutes in the 2-0 win over Serbia on Thursday night.
Playing alongside Casemiro, Paqueta ‘made it impossible for the opponent to get through’, as per Correio Braziliense.

With Serbia being so hard to break down, his efforts were crucial in stopping any potential counter-attacks.
Eventually, Brazil broke through as Richarlison scored two goals, the latter a wonderful bicycle kick.
The Selecao last won the World Cup in 2002, so they’ll be desperate to triumph in Qatar. And so far, so good.
After the match, Paqueta took to Instagram with the message: ‘First goal achieved 6 to go…
‘Glory to God for this moment and thanks to the Brazilian people for their support.’
The West Ham ace got plenty of replies, including from Brazil legend Rivaldo, who shared a number of applause emojis.

West Ham haven’t really seen the best of Paqueta so far this season.
However, his performance for Brazil in a deeper role will surely give David Moyes food for thought.
The West Ham boss has been playing Paqueta as an attacking midfielder, but perhaps he could partner Declan Rice in the centre of midfield?
