Rio Ferdinand wowed by Manchester City star Kevin De Bruyne

Rio Ferdinand has raved about Manchester City star Kevin De Bruyne for his performance in last night’s clash for Belgium against Wales.

The City wizard scored during the win and was largely impressive throughout the game, leading to Ferdinand lauding him on Twitter.

The 29-year-old now has 21 goals at international level from 79 caps and has the ability to take the European Championships by storm in the summer.

Belgium will be among the favourites to win the tournament and with De Bruyne pulling the strings, it’s easy to see why.

After his showing last night, Ferdinand took to Twitter and even compared the player to former Manchester United great, David Beckham.

De Bruyne has been a revelation for Manchester City and is on the cusp of adding another Premier League title to his collection of silverware.

During the current campaign, he has registered 16 assists and bagged himself seven goals, with City the runaway leaders.

One trophy which has so far eluded De Bruyne is the Champions League and he’ll hope to claim that with the Citizens.

In 253 appearances for City, he has scored 64 goals and registered 105 assists, operating in a number of positions.

De Bruyne is the highest-paid player at the Etihad Stadium, earning £350,000-a-week, and he’s worth every penny when on top form.

Ex-Manchester United man Ferdinand saw Beckham’s quality first hand and comparing De Bruyne to him is high praise indeed.

It might not go down too well with United fans that he’s been waxing lyrical about a City star.

It’s fair to say, however, that both De Bruyne and Beckham will go down as two iconic crosses of the ball in the Premier League era.
