Rio Ferdinand has told his YouTube channel that Arsenal still need Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to step up as he lauded the captain as an unbelievable player and insisted that he would have loved to have played alongside the striker.
The Gunners look to be getting back on track under Mikel Arteta. They have won their last three to leave them just six points off the top four.

Arsenal have scored eight goals in this recent run. Remarkably however, Aubameyang has not scored any of them.
The 31-year-old is on a run of one goal in eight games in all competitions. The strike against Southampton hinted that he was rediscovering his touch.
However, he has not found the back of the net since then. And despite Arsenal brushing West Brom aside at the weekend, Ferdinand suggested that Arteta needs more from the forward.

“I love Aubameyang. I think he’s an unbelievable player,” he told his YouTube channel. “I’d have loved to have played with him in my team.
“Before he went to Arsenal, I’d have loved Manchester United to have bought him. I think he’s a top, top, top, ridiculous finisher. Last season, what he did was unrivalled. But this season, Arsenal need him firing ASAP.”
In fairness to Aubameyang, he is entitled to a dip in form given what he has achieved in North London. His record still stands at 57 goals in 100 Premier League appearances.
And several of his teammates are currently stepping up right now. Alexandre Lacazette has five in his last four. Meanwhile, the likes of Emile Smith Rowe and Bukayo Saka have been outstanding lately.
And if those players around him continue to impress, it is surely only a matter of time before Aubameyang is back amongst the goals.
