Rio Ferdinand has revealed what he said to his Vibe with Five co-hosts at the start of the game and after Arsenal equalised in the second half against Manchester United on Sunday.

The Gunners suffered a 3-1 defeat at Old Trafford and many believe they deserved more from the game. Mikel Arteta’s men were arguably better than their United counterparts for most parts of the fixture, but the Red Devils were more clinical in front of goal, and that was enough for them to win the game.

Ferdinand was a happy man on the latest episode of his Vibe with Five podcast. The Manchester United legend and Stephen Howson even brought out a cake to celebrate their side’s win, leaving Joel Beya all alone.

Speaking about the clash, Ferdinand admitted that Arsenal dominated the game for the most parts and completely deserved their equaliser.

However, he claimed that the way the Gunners played in the first 15 minutes of the game reminded him of a division one team.

Ferdinand said: “When the game started, I thought it would be so different to the way it started. I thought you guys would just dominate, like you did for most of the game.

“First 10-15 mins, United were playing some good stuff. Then, the game changed in terms of you guys started to take control of the game. Man United score, then again, the pendulum swings, you guys get control of the game.

“When you guys scored, I texted in the group straight away ‘deserved’.

“I said before, (in) the first 15 minutes, you lot looked like a Div 1 team.”

TBR View:

United started the game brilliantly. They pushed Arsenal back into their own half, and the Gunners really struggled to get out. The hosts were definitely the better side during that period.

However, from that point until Manchester United scored their second goal in the 66th minute, Arsenal mostly dominated the game and were unlucky not to score more than just once.

United deserve a lot of credit. Football is a game of fine margins, and when chances fell to their feet, they took them. That made the difference in the game on Sunday, and Arteta will look back on it with a lot of regret.

In the same podcast, Ferdinand also spoke about William Saliba. Read all about it here.
